Charlotte Richardson
British Romantic poet Charlotte Caroline Richardson was educated at the Grey Coat School in York, a trade school for children. She worked as a domestic servant until 1802, when she married a shoemaker who died of consumption two months after the birth of their first child. Richardson subsequently founded and briefly ran a school.
Richardson published one full-length volume of poetry and two long poems by subscription with the assistance of Catharine Cappe: Poems Written on Different Occasions (1806), Harvest, A Poem, in Two Parts; with Other Poetical Pieces (1818), and Ludolph, or The Light of Nature, A Poem (1823).
